IN THE WORLD OF MOTORS

This year, Chevrolet Monte Carlo celebrated its thirtieth anniversary. In the early 70's, the car was so popular in America that it even squeezed out the legendary Ford Thunderbird in sales, becoming a leader. Following the trends of overseas fashion, by the 80s, the sedan was slightly reduced and equipped with a more economical (though not so powerful) engine. In this version, the car lasted almost without changes on the conveyor until 1989, when the Chevrolet Lumina replaced it. But six years later, in 1995, they decided to revive the name "Monte Carlo" - they named a new car on the basis of the "Lumina".
The appearance of the Monte Carlo model of 1995 is stylized as sports cars representing General Motors at the most popular NASCAR racing series in the USA. That was the trick of GM strategists: who would refuse to own a “real sports car”? This line is continued by Monte Carlo 2000 model year, designed on the platform of the new Impala. But this time, among its main competitors, it’s not the American, but the Japanese models - primarily the two-door Toyota Camry Solara and Honda Accord.
Two six-cylinder engines with a volume of 3.4 and 3.8 liters with a camber angle of 60 and 90 °, respectively, were prepared for the machine. You cannot name both engines new, especially the less powerful power unit, which Chevrolet-Vencher, Pontiac-Transport, and Oldsmobile-Silhouette mini-vans have been equipped with for many years. The same can be said about the automatic transmission that transmits torque to the front wheels. But the latest technologies were used in the suspensions and the body, thanks to which it was possible to significantly improve the handling of the car compared to its predecessor.
One of the main advantages of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo is its rich equipment at a relatively low price. In America, equipped with traction and cruise control systems, a tire pressure detector, air conditioning, an audio system and all conceivable electric drives, a car costs about 22 thousand dollars.
