VANDENBRINK-CARVER

At car dealerships there is always a place for something that can excite the imagination of visitors. Such innovations of the IAA-99 in Frankfurt can be safely attributed to the three-wheeled crew "Carver" of the Dutch company "Vandenbrink". No, three-wheeled motor-strollers have long been familiar to us. But such … Her cockpit is deliberately designed in the style of a la fighter. A wonderful companion, which you must impress, will certainly take a place behind your back. A 65-liter 16-valve turbo engine will immediately respond to turning the key and pressing the button. p., at first glance, modest, but able to disperse the "infernal machine" to the first "hundred" in just 8.2 seconds.

Nothing special, you say, there are roadsters and abruptly. But this is only until the first turn. The steering wheel to the left - and the horizon lays to one side, as in a real plane. In the left window at the very eyes a ribbon of asphalt swiftly rushes, in the right - clouds and upper floors of houses float! After all, you laid a steep turn, and the car body obediently tilted along with the front wheel. But the rear pair continues to roll without tilting, providing stability and traction.

Something similar, by the way, was shown two years ago at the same IAA Mercedes-Benz (F 300 Life Jet), but only Carver has a chance to go to the people, because it is equipped with a patented computer system for stabilizing the tilt of the body. Called DVC (Dynamic Vehicle Control), it allows you to control a car without special training and a pilot’s license: you won’t be allowed to tip over more than 45 °. And thank God. Do you still have business at home. But the one who at least once tried to ride the Carver claims that the sensations are incomparable, and if some faintly weaving low-speed road closes the road ahead, then the hands themselves begin to look for … a trigger.
