Today we present a sample of "post-crisis" tuning from the Alarm-Service company. Based on the new VAZ - the 2111 station wagon with an eight-valve injection engine. The move is obviously winning - the car is popular in itself, and therefore it is good as an object for fine-tuning.
The list of improvements about twelve points can be divided into two parts: mechanical improvements and increased comfort. The first is much cheaper, primarily because domestic components are used to the maximum. Let's say an intervention in the engine costs $ 990, and the comfortable Koenig imported seats are a hundred more expensive. Domestic alloy wheels "Prom" will cost 270 conventional units, a set of sound insulation materials 3M - 654. So you can choose between driving performance and comfort, desires and capabilities.
Now get to know the tuning car closer. A set of plastic hinges, in our opinion, quite harmoniously complemented the look of the "eleventh": there is no excessive pretentiousness, the workmanship is acceptable. But whether “plastic” is needed at all is, as they say, a matter of taste. Sitting in a comfortable German chair and holding on to the Italian steering wheel is damn nice, although, as already mentioned, it is unprofitable. But if the "native" "tenth" seat is still acceptable (especially against the background of the "eighth"), then the steering wheel … In general - thanks to the creators.
Soundproofing, especially made from proprietary materials, is by no means a useless thing for domestic cars. But the main thing is how the eleventh rides now?
Homegrown racers, sprinkle ashes on their heads. The station wagon did not demonstrate sporting feats, and above all, because the specialists of Alarm Service did not set such a goal for themselves. The task was somewhat different - to improve the driving performance of the car by small means. In many ways, this was possible. With Plaza shock absorbers, the suspension became denser, while maintaining an unexpectedly high level of comfort. The behavior of the car on the road has changed quite noticeably. Affected and tires, and reinforced fasteners for stretching the front suspension and steering rack. In addition, the car has a changed longitudinal angle of inclination of the axis of rotation of the wheels (castor). Station wagon got rid of rolls and swings. Although with hefty rolls, it nevertheless takes quite confident turns, it is not inclined to swing on an arc, which sometimes causes the standard 2111 to sin. The car reacts to the driver’s actions, maybe not as sharply and nervously as the G8, but it’s not so thoughtful either and sometimes ambiguous, like the serial "eleventh." The reverse side of the coin is a rather heavy, “peasant” steering wheel.
The engine was not struck by special agility, although it significantly exceeded the performance of a serial wagon. He has a good elasticity, which is very important in everyday driving. In this parameter, he left far behind the serial “one hundred and third” with a sixteen valve. The changed main pair also said their word here.
And now we summarize the cost of tuning. Only “mechanics” (engine, gearbox, suspension, front end reinforcement, wheels and tires) will cost 2300 conventional units. The full range of work is more than twice as expensive: $ 5, 600. The latter amount can make you think even a true car lover. Comfort costs money. Even after the crisis.
