Over the past 1999 “Fora” overcame another 25 thousand kilometers. It would seem that what can bother with a relatively fresh car beyond what is considered to be childhood diseases? We already talked about them in previous reports and hoped that the next one would be short and peppy, like the conclusion of the medical board in the military enlistment office - healthy, fit!

Alas, the “Handicap” every now and then requires attention. The first since then washers refused. At first the windshield, a little later and the rear. The first tee collapsed to divorce the tubes to the washer nozzles. The item is cheap, it’s a pity not for money, but for the time spent searching and replacing. With the rear, it turned out to be more difficult - the tube broke at the folding place (at the top of the tailgate). I had to grind a replacement from aluminum.

The conditions of the second Fora wintering season were in favor of the person - the car spent the night in a warm (plus 13-15 ° C) garage. And although this is not very useful for her - constant fogging from the cold and temperature spikes - her health is more expensive. Every morning, warming up the frozen seat with our own … energy is a dubious pleasure, and doctors do not recommend it.

Let's pay tribute - “Fora” firmly endured these contrast baths, and no threatening foci of corrosion showed up by spring.

He did not like winter the heater electric motor and the wiper. The first squealed heartily until it warmed up, asked for a replacement, or at least for repair. Usually the cause of such a squeal is the worn sleeve of the armature shaft. We know from experience that lubrication does not help much, so we decided not to touch it, but to show endurance until the summer. They showed it, but in the summer it’s hot without the “stove”, and the motor “recovered” in the heat.

The wiper, on the contrary, was quiet and mysterious - he could stop in any position, which at first was very annoying. Especially in intermittent mode. Sometimes you wait, you won’t wait for the sweep of the brushes, and they don’t think. However, endurance also helped here: by spring, the defect disappeared by itself. Apparently, the contact between the sector and the lobe in the gearbox miraculously restored.

The heater faucet, a hereditary disease of VAZs, on the contrary, every day released more and more “Tosol”. First, a few drops of “cold”, then constantly. Replacing it was not so easy - the air conditioner was in the way. The work was worth five hours and his hands ripped into the blood - this crane is very reliably hidden.

That winter seemed to absorb the annual rate of malfunctions, because with the onset of heat they all stopped at once. In winter, the battery charge was weakened. This was suggested by an additionally installed voltmeter (the "control" of the generator was "silent"): the voltage began to jump randomly in some speed ranges. We decided to go “to victory”, since long-distance routes were not expected. Enough for a couple of days, then the generator refused completely. When disassembling, they found that the body of the voltage regulator noticeably melted and warped. The culprit was a weak contact in the terminal connecting the plus brush to the common output of the diodes. Apparently, because of this, the connection began to warm up and weakened so much that the contact began to simply disappear (here you have the voltage jumps). Naturally, such a regulator could not withstand for a long time. And if we were to deal with a malfunction at its first manifestations - it was worth squeezing a weakened terminal - we would not have to buy a new regulator.

New enough for a while. After only six thousand, the charge again disappeared. The governor's output wiring turned out to be guilty - the clamping bracket frayed its insulation and “plus” struck the “mass”. I had to put the regulator "pill".

Already in the spring, the vaunted Gabriel "ended" (ZR, 1999, No. 1) - the rear left shock absorber simply figured out on the go. Not even twenty thousand left. It’s good that this happened near the house, and to the garage, at least slowly, so that the shock absorber halves would not knock on the body, we got there ourselves. The "company" was replaced by the usual "Nivov".

In late spring, carefully examined the body. For the second winter, he got much more. The number of small chips of paint increased. On the rapids and above them in front of the rear wheel arches, the paint came off along with the ground, exposing the metal. It worked "syringes" of snow and dirt flying out from under the front wheels. On the "Samara" in these places are plastic pads. "Lichen" was treated with a rust converter and closed with mastic.

The ball joints creaked and rattled - now in the left suspension, having sustained a little more than 50 thousand (the right ones, if you remember, were replaced by the 25th).

Almost immediately after them they bought a new sound signal. The Bibikalka did not last even two years - water penetrated inside and everything thoroughly rusted.

Last season “Fora” opened on new tires. Yugoslavian rubber “Trayal” worked out 55 thousand km. It would have left even “half as much” if it weren’t for the branded “Trayalov’s” cameras. They burst. They themselves, at the seams, methodically, with an interval of 10 thousand km. Well, if the air came out of the front wheel: immediately noticeable - the car pulls to the side. But if you lower the back, on the “Fore” it is not so easy to feel. In any case, this is not reflected on the steering wheel. You notice when the wheel is already knocking on the road. Smoothly (so that the tire does not spin on the disk and the car does not skid) you stop, and the tire is already smoking. As a result, three of the five wheels found wavy sidewalls. Not that hernias, but still unpleasant. By the way, in the tire monitors confirmed that the Trayal cameras are junk.

When it came time to buy Foret new shoes, we decided to take two sets - summer and winter. Therefore, to begin with, we aimed at the VLI-10 highway, but new all-season tires I-501 for 500 rubles fell on the market. It was recalled that Yaroslavl tires have always been soft. We examined it - the size of the checkers is floating (either bigger or smaller), which means that it won’t sing out loud (this way they leave resonant noises). The tire size finally influenced the choice - the width of 190 mm (190 / 75R16). Maybe it’s useless for Fora, but it’s beautiful! Before installation, weighed, comparing with the "Trayal" - the Yaroslavl heavier by almost 2 kg (with the camera 15.3 versus 13.5). It would be nice to buy alloy wheels, they are just 2-3 kg lighter than steel. But a little expensive - a thousand apiece.

They mounted the tires on regular disks (it would be a little wider - 5.5 or 6 inches), put on the car. She transformed, became much more solid. By the way, standard tires (175 / 80R16) look tolerant only on the VAZ 2121 3, while elongated “fields” only spoil the appearance. It is a pity that under the hood, the wide tire was only in a flat condition, otherwise it could not be closed. So the reserve before installation will have to be pumped up.

For asphalt, these tires were just right. The car rolls easier, quieter, does not notice small holes at all, and in turns it is better to hold on to the road. But there are also drawbacks - at a low speed, the steering wheel has become heavier, on bumps the wheels more “thump”, yanking the car (their greater weight affects). It’s a pity that the “toothiness” of the tread is moderate - “all season”. The very first trip to the field confirmed that this tire is more of a highway - the Fora moved very reluctantly along the wet plowing. Tires turned into slicks from dirt that clogged them.

A few words about the trailer "Trailer-700", which ran about 4 thousand km per year. During this time, he helped us conduct tests of summer and winter tires. He also worked in construction - he transported more than a ton of sand, gravel, cement, brick and other building materials. During winter operation, galvanization ceased to shine, and on the wings and the front side it darkened slightly. However, no rust is visible.

The inertial brake works properly, even slightly overloaded, the trailer almost does not increase the braking distance of the road train. The tent did not lose its elasticity (its material did not double even in frost), the plywood floor did not delaminate, although it was washed several times with hot water. In general, "Trailer" is a solid product and, hopefully, durable.

Well, the tractor itself, "Fora" continues to run to the milestone - a hundred thousandth mark. We’ll meet on it!
