I will lead you to the museum!

In July, the fourth, festival of rare and old cars was held in Moscow.

“Exotic 2000” was less crowded than ever - the line was not for 100-ruble tickets, but for a “free” entry through passes … Indeed, few managed to attract the attention of the public. Rare and interesting cars come from year to year to Tushino ever less. Neither the “victory”, nor the “21st” “Volga”, lined up in long rows, as in a taxi fleet, with all due respect to their past, are not exotic at all.

Many of the real rarities that faithful visitors to the festival managed to see two or three years ago went into private collections that were closed to the general public. Thinning ranks with difficulty fill copies brought from the outback. Car owners are reluctant to talk with "loitering", looking for "serious buyers." In half, if not more, cars are a dubious decoration: a piece of paper with the words “For Sale” … and an unrealistic price.

It is sad to look at the ranks of the already recognizable “in person”, decrepit from the festival to the festival of “Muscovites”. Some owners even follow the theory: with the machine, "so as not to kill the old days, " nothing serious needs to be done. It is enough to occasionally cover up the growing foci of corrosion and add oil to the current motor in streams. It turns out that the normal "401st" in Moscow is indeed exotic.

The miserable rotten ones proudly look at the ZISs, Mercedes and Buicks licked at restoration firms. Customers of famous workshops, as rich as they are, are so far from the world of real connoisseurs and connoisseurs of antiquity. There are rumors in Moscow about several tens of thousands of dollars needed for a “real restoration” of ZIM. Yes, for such money in Germany you can buy a decent "Horch"! Anyone who decided to get involved in the game in the "big" cars, should imagine what awaits him. An imported, all the more rare, expensive car will require substantial costs, especially if you achieve full compliance with the original. Restoration of the domestic “old man”, released in the 40s-60s, usually does not require a lot of money … if it does not pursue exclusively showy goals.

Near the "metropolitan little things" there were a few guests - the same ZIMs, and rarer cars delight true connoisseurs with a decent view. It was not the moneybags who came to them, but the secret of the eternal youth of the machines is simple - caring and skillful hands of the owners. They demonstrated the undeniable: it is better to show one neat, working car than to deliver a “collection” of rotten non-self-propelled iron to Tushino from year to year.

… As usual, several hot births testify to exuberant imagination and the peculiar taste of customers and manufacturers. A separate corner, fortunately, on the outskirts, is occupied by "noise cars", ready to shoot killer decibels. The Autoamerica Club won a huge fenced area under the hot Moscow sun … and filled it by almost a third.

The history of Moscow auto festivals has clearly come to a standstill. The feeling of freshness of the event disappeared, but nothing else appeared. Once upon a time, parades of veterans turned into fascinating lectures on automotive history. Probably, today, many would like to know more about cars and their owners, look at vehicles in motion. But neither the organizers, nor the majority of car owners care about the public. The event turned into several narrow club parties with a market bias, advertising of restoration workshops and “visiting sessions” of Moscow foreign car dealerships. What culture and enlightenment is there! Of course, there were really friendly people and really interesting cars, but too few to create a sense of celebration. To organize which is just as difficult as to save or restore a car …

One of the most respected by age is NSU-FIAT-508 from Nizhny Novgorod. Year of birth - 1934, engine - 995 cm3, 24 hp All main components and assemblies are original.

A modest and slightly funny three-wheeled stroller S-1L is now very rare. It is good that SeAZ replenished the exposition of the factory museum with the baby. The engine of the first version (1952 - 1955) developed only 4.5 hp, from 1956 - "whole" 7.5 forces.

An example of a variation on the theme of restoration. The engine and main components from modern BMWs and Mercedes, body and interior parts - “with a pine forest”. And in a past life, the car rightfully bore the name “Nash Ambassador Aight” of the 3880 series.

Restored in Germany, the Mercedes-Benz-200D, before emigrating to Russia, adorned the window of one of the Hamburg car dealerships. 55 hp diesel and today it accelerates a solid sedan to 120 km / h.
