Our "red" baby doubled the mileage by the fall and came close to the forty-thousandth milestone. During this period, there were still no major punctures, only the little things annoyed electrical equipment. So, the jumper was to blame for the jerks that arose when the engine was operating at medium revolutions (about 2500–3000 rpm), accompanied by feverish twitching of the tachometer needle. With its replacement, the defect disappeared, but not for long. There were strange failures at the beginning of the dispersal, and almost simultaneously with the "Prestige" - and the standard "Oka" of one of the colleagues. Since his car was still under warranty, they decided to use the experience of the VTT-Trade mechanics who immediately installed: the nozzle of the carburetor solenoid valve is clogged. And for sure. A thorough washing and cleaning of its channel returned its former smoothness.
To finish about the electrical equipment, let’s say that on the 32nd thousand the starter started to fool, refusing to put its gear into gear with the flywheel. However, the second attempt is almost always successful, and the “Prestige” - pah-pah - is launched from a half-turn! The screech of the “stove” fan mentioned in the previous report on the eve of winter was eliminated: a standard grease nipple was screwed into the lower casing of the motor to lubricate the bearing with “Litol”. It turns out that this can be done through the lower hatch of the heater without removing it from the car!
The brakes were another surprise. It all started with the reluctance of the right rear wheel to completely brake. This made itself felt in a kind of impetus when stopping, despite the released brake pedal. Since it was the rear right drum that was warmed up, it was not necessary to guess which wheel to remove. The gaze appeared … the pad half detached from the block, although she still had to walk and walk before wear. In the store we bought a new one with the TIIR emblem, but the replacement did not solve the problem completely. It turned out that the pad edge is pressed rather tightly onto the punchings on the brake shield and the force of the upper tension spring is not enough to overcome dry friction. (By the way, when installing new pads, the spring is practically not stretched.) For some time, the very same Litol saved on these protrusions saved. Of course, they did this carefully so that the grease did not get on the drum and the pads. But bad luck: after five thousand, the brakes whistled strangely, and just on the go. Habitually having removed the same drum, we saw a familiar picture - a half-peeled overlay, protruding towards the drum! I had to turn to the TIIR experts who determined: the linings are genuine, but they are glued somewhere under Uncle Vasya underground and, of course, not with special heat-resistant adhesive VS-10T! Because to the "Oka" TIIR rear pads assembly does not release at all! And here is how this left-wing product gets onto the conveyor of SeAZ - God knows. Craftsmen can be advised, just in case, to duplicate the mounting of linings in the old tried and tested way - rivets.
But the rest, “Oka-Prestige” does not upset its owners, regularly delivering it to work and home, on business trips and just for business. Little toiler …
