He comes from a well-known family - Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry produces annually 15 thousand buses of fifty different models, making it the largest bus manufacturer in China and the second in the world.

“Royal length” is small, only 7.2 m - the numbers in the model index indicate it. There is a shorter, six-meter modification. Eight in the same index corresponds to the serial number of the current generation of "Heiger". The layout is usual for buses of this class - the front engine, the rear wheels. Accordingly, the design, like a truck: riveted staircase, spring suspension, continuous beam axles, worm steering with power. Of course, dual-circuit pneumatic brakes with a mandatory anti-lock braking system for buses.

There are also features - unlike most analogues, in which the body is mounted on bolts and rubber pads, here it is welded to the frame and, strictly speaking, is semi-supporting. This design is stronger, but has the worst vibration and sound insulation. Given the vocal turbodiesel, this became a real problem during certification - the engine had to be almost completely enclosed in a soundproof capsule, and the muffler, which reduces the exhaust noise to an acceptable one, was only picked up from the fourth attempt.

The bus capacity had to be reduced - initially the seats were more tight - four in a row, but we have more well-fed people, and the fur coats are thicker, and therefore the seats are slightly apart and arranged in three. The maximum passenger capacity of the Haiger, together with standing places, is 29 people, but at rush hour it is likely to be easily blocked one and a half times. The cabin height of 1.9 m just corresponds to the minimum acceptable by Russian requirements - only the tallest ones will have to bend their heads.

The driver is comfortable enough - they have a seat and a steering column in two adjustments. However, you need to adapt to the “mirror” steering column switches - the wipers on the left, the direction indicators on the right. The steering wheel is typically bus - very light with a huge gear ratio, forcing to intercept the steering wheel even in smooth corners. However, it may be for the better: with such control, any desire to scorch is lost. You can touch from the second gear, the first one will be needed only in the most difficult conditions.

Turbo diesel with intercooler complies with Euro II standards in force in Russia. The green sector of the tachometer lies in the range of 1000–2500 rpm, somewhere in the middle there is a pronounced pickup, and further the motor readily spins up to 3000 rpm and higher, providing a quite acceptable dynamics. The declared control fuel consumption is 16 liters per 100 km.

Pneumatic brakes catch quite sharply. When ABS is triggered, the bus tries to turn around. We hope that unregulated braking mechanisms are a disadvantage of a specific instance. However, in other cases, the engine retarder will help out - the damper in the exhaust tract of the urban model is a rare exception. It would be nice if the deceleration switch did not have to reach under the steering wheel to the dashboard.
