With the words "tuning an inexpensive car" immediately pops up the image of "Lada Samara." No doubt, on the basis of the "eights" they also build unique fireballs with a capacity of 300 hp, in which the cost of a full range of improvements is many times higher than the price of an aggregate carrier. Nevertheless, in most cases, the budget is limited by reasonable limits, and the goal corresponds to the spent funds. The owner wants to give the car an original look, improve dynamics, handling and create a comfortable atmosphere in the cabin. The balance of these qualities is often shifted in a certain direction, closer to the author of the project.
The cars presented here, Skoda-Felicia and Lada-114 TMS, are different - and yet similar. The magazine has already spoken about the latter in detail (ЗР, 2006, No. 4). We only recall that this is a typical product of a professional studio, “sharpened” for an active driver. A Czech car with a residence permit located near Moscow was born from the work of a small team of enthusiasts who decided to build a car that no one has.
STANDARD FOR NON-STANDARD
This “Felicia” served the owner’s family faithfully. They bought a new foreign car to replace it, and Filya, as the Czech model often called fans, was left out of work. So why not put your hands on her?The interior, including the front panel, ceiling and door trim, is trimmed with light skin and black Alcantara. Tuning seats manufactured by UNP. Steering wheel and gear knob - from the range of accessories "StreetShtorm". The interior, including the front panel, ceiling and door trim, is trimmed with light skin and black Alcantara. It took 10 months to do everything, and they worked only on weekends: otherwise the schedule of the owner - the bank employee - would not allow. Yes, yes, none of the team working on the machine has a technical background! However, its absence did not prevent to sort out several styling options, radically change the interior and conjure over the engine and chassis.
I must admit, the path that the creators went is common for tuners "chisels". But a lot had to be redone for the sake of the general concept and taking into account the design features of Felicia. Of the original bodywork elements, only the front doors remained intact. The front wheel arches were rolled to the desired width manually. Air vents and a “nostril” of the air intake were made on the hood. They have no practical effect, moreover, they had to deal with the ingress of water on the starter. It’s not scary, you can cover it with a casing - but in the appearance of “Fili” there is no trace of natural modesty left.
The front bumper adds an even more aggression with a radiator grill integrated in the manner of modern Audi. This element of the production of Avtostil company was finalized by ourselves, achieving similarity with the German brand. The lining on the rear wheel arches and bumper from the same manufacturer satisfied the owner - they were installed without changes. From the assortment of the StreetStorm brand, a wing and rear-view mirrors, which were developed for the Lada, were chosen. However, they did not spoil the “Felicia”, only the installation took more time.
The rear door handles were removed, stamps under them were welded, putty and painted over. How to open the door? No way - and brewed them. How to get into the back seat? And there is nothing to do there: the car is designed for the driver and front passenger. They will get all the comfort of an altered interior, where everything is covered in leather and Alcantara. Part of the work was given to the side; It turned out to find artificial black suede in the right amount is not so easy, but in the end, furrier work was successfully completed.
The territory of the rear sofa was occupied by audio components. More precisely - three amplifiers under transparent covers with backlight. In the trunk, the entire place was taken by the subwoofer housing from Audiobahn. Simple luggage, if desired, can be placed behind the front seats.
The refinement of this Skoda Felicia cost the owner a relatively small amount - $ 8, 000. True, the cost of work is calculated in human hours. The same amount is spent on tuning the Samara family. Maybe you should take a closer look at second-hand Czechs?
SKODA FAVORIT, SKODA FELICIA
The pre-production Skoda Favorit rolled off the assembly line in Mladá Boleslav in July 1987, and mass production started six months later. When creating this car, Skoda collaborated with various foreign companies, including Bertone, which developed the exterior. Porsche was engaged in the refinement of the engine mounts.
In 1994, “Felicia” was developed, developed on the basis of its predecessor with the participation of “Volkswagen”. Only the design has fundamentally changed, the design has remained the same: the old Skoda bottom engine with a volume of 1.3 liters and a power of 54 hp. with carburetor and 68 hp with fuel injection. The pendants - McPherson in front, semi-independent at the back - have not changed. There is only one gearbox: 5-speed manual.

The VAZ-2108 car appeared in 1984 and laid the foundation for the production of the Sputnik / Samara front-wheel drive family. Of the features - a hatchback body, a transverse engine, a non-contact ignition system, a McPherson-type front suspension, rack and pinion steering, clutch cable drive, plastic bumpers. The Porsche company took part in the refinement. The base power unit is a 1.3-liter 65-horsepower with a four-speed gearbox.
In 1987, a more powerful carburetor engine of 1.5 liters was mastered, and a little later - a 53-horsepower with a volume of 1.1 liters.
